            Beyond Appearances: Rethinking Counterfeiting
My project on counterfeiting began with a different intention. I wanted to explore the visual identity of a place that has always fascinated me: Jemaa el-Fna. Its vibrant atmosphere and complex social dynamics drew me in.
But I needed to go beyond aesthetics and question deeper issues. I quickly confronted the topic of counterfeiting, widespread in this square and beyond. Often seen as a problem for the luxury industry, I chose to look at it differently.
The ambiguity was captivating. How can a place reflect both wealth and poverty, admiration and necessity? The real question wasn’t whether counterfeiting is a problem, but for whom. Who suffers from it? Who benefits?
